The Karnataka Electricity Regulatory Commission (KERC) on August 14, 2026, issued the Draft Karnataka Electricity Regulatory Commission Electricity Supply Regulations (ESR), 2026.
The following has been stated: -
•The Karnataka Electricity Regulatory Commission (Electricity Supply) Regulations, 2026 establish the regulatory framework for electricity supply by Distribution Licensees in Karnataka, covering new connections, metering, billing, disconnection and reconnection.
•They prescribe standards for quality, reliability and timely consumer services while defining the rights and obligations of consumers and licensees.
•The Regulations also provide mechanisms for addressing consumer complaints, disputes and unauthorised use of electricity.
•Overall, they seek to ensure transparent, efficient, reliable and consumer-friendly electricity supply across the State.
The Stakeholders / interested persons can submit comments/views/suggestions/objections, if any, on or before 30 (thirty) days.
